9000 employees, 8000 medical students, 1.2 million people who visit the clinics per year, 550.00 patients who are treated in the outpatient-department and 80.000 patients in stationary care: The hospital is a city in its own right and any change to the wayfinding system affects a lot of people.
AKH-Wien decided to take a step-by-step approach to ensure that patients, students, care staff and management organisations are aware – and part of – the design process. At various stages the new concept was tested along main circulation routes for usability and comprehension, staff were invited to comment online.
Our deliverable was a guideline document for implementation of the new wayfinding system in any future build or refurbishment. Watch this space ….
